Don't Get Lost In The Internet, Be Found with Local Search!

local_search_seo_spartanburg_scAccording to Google, an estimated 73 percent of all online activity is related to local searches, so we don't need to tell you how important it is to make sure your business information is listed correctly across all of the platforms that are relevant to your industry. As the internet grows to be a more integral part of our lives every day, customers are turning to local search to find companies that match their specific needs before going to their actual store front. Here are some great tips to follow when positioning your business at the top of your customer's search engines. 

Consistency Is Key

One of the most important aspects of local search is ensuring that your business’ information is consistent, accurate, and accessible throughout the web. Including the following additional information will help your consumers make the correct choice:  

  • Name, address, phone number — (We like to call these "NAP")
  • Hours of operation
  • Web address
  • Price range
  • General products and services

Is your company an LLC? Make sure that you have LLC after your company name EVERYWHERE! If your business information is out of date or appears to be different on other search engines, it will lower your visibility within the search and make it difficult or even impossible for potential customers to find you. 

Generate Fresh Content

Having and regularly updating a company blog is the easiest way to constantly add fresh, new content to your site. This additional fresh content will raise your site’s search rankings and provide an ongoing system to drive traffic from search engines to your site. Use your blog to provide relevant information about your products or services and feature it on your site's homepage so consumers can easily access it. Adding an eye-catching image to your blog is another simple way to grab users' attention. 

Engage On Social Media 

There are tons of people out there searching for the products and services you offer through social media channels. Don't miss out on your chance to engage with new customers and build a healthy bond with them. Another added bonus feature of being on social media is the "check in" feature; customers can virtually check in at your business for their entire social circle to see, which can actually generate more traffic to your actual storefront!

Note: The more proactive your social media strategy, the more likely pages are to attract followers — making your business appear higher in search engine results. (Everyone wins!)

Encourage Reviews and Provide Feedback

Having customer reviews is vital in this day and age because consumers are constantly searching online for the best products and services to meet their needs. Reviews are a great way to showcase your hard work and great service. I know whenever I'm searching for a specific product or even a new doctor's office, I will research them online before making my choice. 

Think about it: if a consumer is searching for something and comes across both you and one of your competitors, and you have 54 reviews with a rating of a 3.3 and your competitor has 68 reviews with a rating of a 4.5, who do you think they are going to ultimately pick? 

Google My Business, Yelp!, and Facebook are great places to start asking for people to review your company.  When customers leave you feedback you should always reply regardless if it's positive or negative. This helps build your customer engagement and people love to see that you actually care about their support. 

Note: Google's algorithim also takes reviews and ratings into account when ordering companies by authority. Be #1 on the Google Machine!
